John Steadman

John was an older (really older) actor that was auditioning for a part in a Henry’s Beer commercial about a bunch of old codgers sitting around bullshiiting each other. John had a face reminiscent of the great Walter Huston in THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, and the old guy in THE WILD BUNCH. Not bad. When I saw the casting tape, it was hilarious, because the poor, addled, John Steadman did all the parts. It made the spot FFF, far, far, funnier. I called Jerry, the art director, to tell him what I was thinking and hoped that Hal, the writer and ECD, saw what I saw. He did and we did the spot as John had improvised (in his own sweet way).
